For I know the thoughts of that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11 (NKJV)

Quadriplegic Overcoming |

It was about 3:00 a.m. when I was awakened by sounds of groaning, travail and weeping. I looked over to the spot beside me in the bed I was sharing with my daughter to find that she was gone. As I stumbled bleary-eyed toward the sound, I found that it was coming from the other room in the suite in Adams Mark Hotel in Dallas, Texas that I was sharing with my daughter and two dear friends. We were attending the first “God´s Leading Ladies” Conference at the Potter´s House in Dallas, Texas. We had attended two out of the three evening services and eagerly anticipated completing the whole conference.
What I found was alarming to say the least. My dear friend, Karla was in a fetal position on the floor, sobbing and wailing with my daughter Bri´Ann and my other friend Patty praying with and for her. The whole sight was beyond belief! Bri´ and Patty were weeping. The expressions on their faces told me that something terrible had happened.
Karla had received word that her son, Chris, had had a diving accident. We didn´t know if he was alive or not, but we did know that they were air-lifting him to a trauma facility. THAT was good news to us. They would not be airlifting him if he wasn´t alive. Thank you God!
We were able to contact the emergency facility they were sending him to and Karla was able to speak with an emergency attendant. By a miracle, she was able to speak to Chris. He told her of the accident, that he couldn´t move from his chest down; he had unintentionally dived into ankle deep water. Chris was recently discharged from the U.S. Coast Guard Service after his term of service was completed, and was now working for GNC and had just got the promotion of having his own store to manage. What a deliriously bright future for a well-qualified, intelligent, handsome, high achieving young man--the only son of his mother and a joy to all who knew him. Only to be brought to this overwhelming moment of truth--a diving accident, spinal cord injury and possible paralysis. Chris knew only too well what his chances of lifelong disability were because of his knowledge and expertise in water sports and all water activities. THAT was his mother´s greatest fear--that he would know TOO well how extensive his injuries may be and from that, draw his conclusions as to how and if he would be able to rehabilitate.
That was July 13, 2002. It did appear that his injury would leave him a quadriplegic. He had some movement in his hands. What a young age to receive a life sentence to disability and dysfunction--broken dreams and unmet expectations. I understood. Too, what she must be feeling. I also had an intelligent, handsome, high-achieving son of the same age whose future also was bright. What would I do if this were him?
Well, we prayed, and we prayed and we prayed. We visited him and felt the presence of God in and around his bed. It appeared that for some reason higher than our finite understanding, Chris´s path in life had been altered. But why?
I don´t know, but it is obvious that God is not finished with this young man. He is now 26 years old. Is traveling the world with his devoted mother and experiencing life in a way no one ever suspected possible given his condition. Please indulge in the pictures and the stories that they tell. We introduce you to the young Chris Post, Jr., gold-medallist, and champion racer.
